Alpharetta Welcomes The 19th Annual Great Atlanta Shootout Basketball Tournament
March 15, 2024 – Law Enforcement basketball teams from all over the U.S. are set to compete in the 2024 Great Atlanta Shootout Law Enforcement/Military Basketball Tournament on Friday, March 22 through Sunday, March 24. Over 45 teams will compete in four different divisions: Men’s Open Division, Women’s Division, Men’s 40+ and Men’s 50+ Division. The tournament will take place at the Dobbs Creek Recreation Center in Cumming, GA, with the teams enjoying Alpharetta’s awesome hotel accommodations and attractions while in the area.

December 1, 2023 – Our Vision Sports Education Foundation, Inc. will bring the Next Level Junior Classic (NLJC) to Alpharetta, GA on Friday, December 15, through Monday, December 18, at Milton High School. This long-weekend football event is full of life experiences for more than 70 elite high school class of 2025 athletes and their families from all over the country. Each player in attendance has been evaluated and invited to attend the weekend by Our Vision Sports Education Foundation, Inc. September 22, 2023 – Alpharetta is home to over 200 unique dining experiences. Each of these businesses are a fundamental part of our community. In an effort to celebrate this crucial aspect of Alpharetta’s hospitality industry, Flavors Magazine and the Alpharetta Convention & Visitors Bureau created Alpharetta Restaurant Week. After a wildly successful annual restaurant week in early 2023, the ACVB and Flavors Magazine felt inspired to produce a second restaurant week this fall. The idea certainly has worked in their favor as over 45 restaurants have committed to another week of sharing delicious menus. This weeklong celebration of Alpharetta’s dining scene will take place October 15 – 21.

The ACVB not only serves as the Official Destination Marketing Organization for the City of Alpharetta, but throughout the year partners with the City of Alpharetta on impactful community projects that benefit locals and visitors alike. In 2023, the ACVB has worked alongside the City of Alpharetta’s Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Services to create wayfinding signs throughout Big Creek Greenway, guiding guests to their desired destinations on and off the trail, making an already popular Alpharetta attraction even more exceptional.

Janet Rodgers, President & CEO of the Alpharetta Convention & Visitors Bureau, Honored for Lifetime Achievement at State Tourism Conference
February 20, 2023 9:30 a.m.– Few individuals have been able to mark their place in an entire industry, as well as become a statues member of the community they represent, and Janet Rodgers has managed to do both. On Tuesday, February 14th, she was honored during the Georgia Convention and Visitors Bureau (GACVB) state tourism conference where she was awarded the Tom Kilgore Lifetime Achievement Award. Tom Kilgore, the namesake for the award, was a champion of the hospitality industry and one of the architects of the Hotel/Motel Tax legislation which provides CVB’s like the Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau their funding.

Calling All Young Athletes! Register to Compete in Peach Kids Triathlon in Alpharetta!
August 19, 2022 10:00 a.m. – Kids ages 6 to 14 years old are invited to Wills Park in Alpharetta on Sunday, September 25, 2022, to compete in the Dawson Pediatric Peach Kids Triathlon, a USA Triathlon sanctioned event.

The race divisions include Juniors, ranging 6 to 8 years old; Intermediates, ranging 9 to 11 years old; and Seniors, ranging 12 to 14 years old, giving each athlete the opportunity to compete at an attainable level. For example, a Junior will complete a 50-yard swim, while an Intermediate will complete a 100-yard swim and a Senior will complete a 200-yard swim.

Georgia State Golf Association Brings Hole in One Event to Alpharetta

Women amateur golfers of any skill level are invited to take to the green in the Georgia State Golf Association 2022 Women’s Four-Ball Championship. The event will be hosted at the Echelon Golf Club in Alpharetta on Wednesday, June 1 and Thursday, June 2. Entries for the event are open to two-person teams. 48 teams will play a total of 36 holes of four-ball stroke play. For the younger golfers, this event welcomes you to participate! Sanctioned USA Triathlon Event Moves to Wills Park

Wills Park in Alpharetta will be bursting with activity on Sunday, May 22, 2022, during the Dawson Pediatric Peach Kids Triathlon. Previously hosted at Windward Lake Club, the sanctioned USA Triathlon event will now be hosted in a new location, Wills Park. Children ranging from 6 years old to 14 years old will be competing in the triathlon and attempting to earn their spot on the podium. Age brackets are separated by Juniors, 6 to 8 years old, Intermediates, 9 to 11 years old, and Seniors, 12 to 14 years old. Each age group has age-appropriate divisions for the completion of the race. For example, the Juniors will have a 50-yard swim while the Seniors will swim 200-yards.
