Three Tree Lightings, One Jolly Weekend in Alpharetta

In Events & Entertainment, Food + Drink, Shopping

No need to steal Christmas, Alpharetta has plenty of Christmas and holiday-themed fun to share! If you’re a Christmas lover, we bet you’re already anticipating the sound of sleigh bells, the sparkle of tinsel, the taste of hot cocoa and the excitement of gathering with your family for the holidays. Never ye mind the jack-o-lanterns, pilgrims or turkeys vying for their time in the spotlight—we’re ready for full-steam-ahead red, white and green!

With that cheery spirit of anticipation in mind, it is with much holly, jolly joy that we invite you to kick off Christmas with THREE Tree Lighting Celebrations in ONE magical #AwesomeAlpharetta weekend!

Unlike The Whos, who invited the Grinch with such short notice to their Christmas party, we’re giving you plenty of time in your schedule to allow you to plan your merry experience in Alpharetta. Be your family’s Holiday Cheermeister by putting together an outfit that’s “Ooh” and “Aah” worthy, and head to these three spectacular celebrations:

The Third Annual Christmas Tree Lighting at The Hamilton Alpharetta Hotel

On November 17th from 5 – 7 PM, The Hamilton Alpharetta will host visitors and locals alike for a beautiful tree lighting ceremony in their expansive courtyard area. Marking the start of the holiday season, guests can enjoy warm, holiday-themed cocktails, favorite holiday snacks, and festive live music while celebrating the lighting of a beautiful 23-foot-tall tree. While in downtown Alpharetta, enjoy the full holiday experience, with shopping, dining, exploring and plenty of cheer for all. Carrie’s Secret Stash Pop-Up Bar will open at this event and there will be a photo op with the jolly guy himself, Santa! Even the Grinch couldn’t say no to this fabulous fête.

The City of Alpharetta Tree Lighting

On November 18th from 5 – 9 PM, gather with friends and family around the gorgeous 50-foot tree on the Town Green at Alpharetta City Center to enjoy live music, snow flurries, performances from the Metropolitan Ballet’s The Nutcracker, an appearance from Santa, and of course, the lighting of the magnificent tree. There will be no need to wallow in self-pity or stare into the abyss when you’re surrounded by plenty of holiday cheer… and we can’t promise that it will solve world hunger, but while visiting downtown, you can enjoy an amazing assortment of eateries, too!

The Lighting of Avalon

On November 19th from 2 – 7:30 PM, it’s time for festive music and free activities for the whole family at Avalon! Cancel jazzercise (or whatever else you may have planned!) and hurry over to Avalon for an exciting evening. Start with a stroll down the Boulevard for face painting, balloon art, photo booth fun and more. Watch ice skaters dazzle at Avalon on Ice with a festive performance at 2 PM, before lacing up your own skates once the rink opens to the public at 3 PM. Listen to live holiday performances on the big stage and get excited for the main act, Bogey and the Viceroy, who will jam out until Santa comes on stage to light the 40-foot Christmas tree with holiday cheer!

Now that your weekend schedule is officially booked, plan a stay at one of Alpharetta’s 30 cozy hotels so you can be in bed by 9 PM just like the Grinch planned! Share your happiest holiday moments with us by tagging us at @AwesomeAlpharetta and using our hashtag, #AwesomeAlpharetta!
