Cinco de Mayo is one of those holidays we tend to celebrate purely because it’s an awesome excuse to gather with friends and celebrate. What many people don’t know is that while Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of Mexican culture and heritage, it isn’t really celebrated much in Mexico outside of the Mexican state of Puebla, where the Battle of Puebla took place on May 5, 1863. Cinco de Mayo is largely a day when Americans gather and celebrate, particularly in areas with large Mexican-American populations. This year, Cinco de Mayo falls on a Thursday, making it an excellent reason to take a long weekend, get out for fun con tus amigos y familiares, and tap into your tequila-loving side. ¡Con emoción, compartimos las mejores formas de celebrar este Cinco de Mayo en Alpharetta! (With excitement, we are sharing the best ways to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Alpharetta!)

Rope Your Group into a Rowdy Good Time
Did you know that the word “rodeo” originates from the Spanish word “rodear” which loosely translates to “round up”? The early history of rodeos dates to the conquistadors of the 1500’s, where Spanish ranchers and their Mexican ranch hands started to turn raising cattle into the modern phenomenon that the rodeo is today.
What does this have to do with Cinco de Mayo? We’re glad you asked! From May 5 – 7, 2022, the NCPRA 2021 – 2022 Rodeo Finals will be taking place at the Wills Park Equestrian Center, giving you the perfect opportunity to have a hootin’ and hollerin’ good time while appreciating a sport that truly stems from a Mexican culture and tradition. Enjoy all of the classic fun of a rodeo when you watch cowboys and cowgirls compete in Bareback Bronc Riding, Break-Away Roping, Bull Riding, Calf Roping, Cowgirl’s Barrel Racing, Saddle Bronc Riding, Steer Wrestling and Team Roping.
