Spring has officially sprung in Alpharetta! As the weather warms and the flowers bloom, we can once again start to anticipate live music, in-person events and fun activities. From unique art exhibits to farmers market mornings, Italian circus performances to side-splitting comedy nights, Alpharetta is your go-to for events this season. Happily, we say it’s time to dust off your planner and get ready for a Spring to remember.
Check out these 10 upcoming events that you absolutely will not want to miss and plan your visit to Alpharetta!
1. The Market at Avalon– March 19-May 9
Avalon is known for their unique shopping experiences and they deliver again this spring with the new Market at Avalon. Check out selections of specially curated handcrafted goods from local, small businesses. Find graduation gifts, Mother’s Day mementos or springtime treats for yourself. Vendor wares include jewelry, candles, home goods, pet accessories, and much, much more! Free admission.
2. Art in Your Backyard: Folk Art and Whimsy Exhibit – March 29 – May 14
What a perfect time to honor our backyards! After spending a lot of time at home in 2020 and hosting gatherings in our outdoor spaces, the Art In Your Backyard exhibit at the Alpharetta Arts Center celebrates both the humble and the elegant backyards of our dreams. Put on by Arts Alpharetta, each art piece celebrates and pays tribute to our happy place, the backyard. Works include photography, painting on varied surfaces, mosaics, garden decor, sculpture, folk art, and any media suitable for backyard art. Free admission.
3. Alpharetta Farmers Market – Saturday Mornings, April 3 – October 31
The Alpharetta Farmers Market is back on the Village Green by Alpharetta City Hall, bringing us a Saturday morning tradition packed full of fun. This lively alfresco marketplace often features live music and always includes farmer’s stands brimming with fruits, vegetables, natural meats, fresh flowers and herbs, desserts and breads, honeys, jams, jellies and more. Glide through the street market to soak in the sights of vendors and customers mingling, the scent of baked goods and florals wafting through the air, and the hum of music tickling your ears. Free admission.
4. Punchline Comedy Night – April 5 & May 3
Get your laughs in at Avalon’s Punchline Comedy Night, taking place on an outdoor stage at Palmer Plaza. Comedians from The Punchline Comedy Club will have you in stitches all night long. Enjoy dinner with the show from Oak Steakhouse, offering up the Oak CAB Burger, an SMF Chicken Sandwich and Fries on their Comedy Night menu. This is a ticketed event so get your voucher in advance and prepare to laugh your socks off! Shows last about 90 minutes and are recommended for ages 13 and older.
5. Cirque Italia Water Circus – April 8 – 11
The circus is coming to town with a European twist! Cirque Italia, known for its breathtaking stunts, features a custom-designed water stage holding 35,000 gallons of water. Prepare for thrilling acts, as performers take the stage, completing feats that defy imagination. Contortionists, dancers, balancing acts and more will wow you, as water cascades around the stage, creating an ethereal ambiance. 6. Avalon Nights Live – Friday Nights in April & May
Hankering for live music? So are we! Luckily, Avalon Nights Live is back! Live music lingers over Avalon’s Plaza every Friday from 6 – 8 p.m., making it the perfect place to move and groove with your friends and family. This is a ticketed event, with all proceeds benefitting a different charity each month. Make a difference in the local community while adding an exciting event to your calendar!
7. Trails & Ales – April 15 & May 13
Warm weather and sunshine naturally draw us into the outdoors. Jekyll Brewing and Alpharetta’s Recreation, Parks & Cultural Services Department have teamed up to host a monthly event where you can take a walk and raise a glass. On April 15 and May 13, head out for a 1.5 or 3-mile guided walk to explore Alpharetta’s scenic trails and parks. And the reward for getting all those steps in? Share a beverage together at Jekyll’s Downtown location at the post-event social. Register ahead of time to book your spot. 8. Live Music at Matilda’s Music Under the Pines – May 8 & May 15
Grab a table for the group, pack a picnic dinner, and get ready to experience the fabulously funky Southern charm of Matilda’s Music Under the Pines. This open-air venue is nestled under the stars and allows you to hear what a real porch jam session truly sounds like. Be prepared to bring the accoutrements to decorate your own table! Buy your tickets ahead of time, as artists like Farewell Angelina (May 8) and The Hardin Draw (May 15) are popular and sell out in advance. 9. Paint the Town: Alpharetta Plein Air – May 18 – 29
Paint the Town, hosted by Arts Alpharetta, is a 5-day juried plein air invitational where artists of all media from around the country will paint the beautiful outdoor locations around our charming southern city. Plein air, from the French en plein air, is the method of painting outdoors directly from life and has become a wildly popular practice with artists across the world. Residents and visitors are invited to see artists in action during the week-long event, May 18 – 22. Following the 5-day invitational, the art pieces created by participating artists will be on display at the Alpharetta Arts Center from May 22 – 29, for the public to visit, study, and purchase.
10. Alpharetta Art in the Park at Brooke Street Park – May 22 – 23
Creativity comes to Brooke Street Park (right behind Alpharetta City Hall) in charming Downtown Alpharetta, where this outdoor market features handcrafted work by local artists who create masterpieces right before your eyes. Come enjoy the pottery, woodwork, metal work, jewelry creations, handmade children’s clothing, photography, watercolor, oil, mosaic art and much more. Find unique pieces for your home and gifts for your friends and family.
