Alpharetta’s live music scene rocks

In Events & Entertainment

Music stirs the soul. From creating an escape from the everyday to launching us back into some bygone moment we didn’t realize we dearly missed, those riffs and notes and lyrics and harmonies have serious power. When we experience the music live—when we can feel the bass thudding in our chest and see the veins bulge in the neck of some impassioned frontman—the depths of its influence and importance go that much further. Live music puts us in it; we become part of the song and it becomes part of us. And while the ATL may have its share of historic theatres and stadiums, Alpharetta’s live music scene absolutely rocks in its own right. Check out these local live music venues for the area’s best places to toe tap, hum along, dance like no one is watching and/or be absolutely mesmerized:

1) Chukkar Farm’s Home by Dark Concert Series

While it may be known for its elegant farm weddings and polo ponies, from May until August, Chukkar Farms becomes a local haven for singer-songwriter magic. The Home by Dark Concert Series is one of the most beloved events of the year, bringing the world’s best songwriters and musicians to the stage to perform and peel back the veil on the meaning behind the tunes you adore. Songwriters who have brought their talents to this “Behind the Music”-style concert experience have created songs for everyone from Garth Brooks, Ray Charles, and Kelly Clarkson while instrumentalists gracing the stage have performed with the likes on Jon Bon Jovi, Willie Nelson, and Martina McBride. Home by Dark seeks to prove that a song can change your life—or at the very least, inspire you to call your momma.

2) The Velvet Note

Billed as Alpharetta’s “Acoustic Living Room,” The Velvet Note is the perfect location to get lost in the magic of jazz music. Open Thursday through Sunday, The Velvet Note offers a meticulously crafted listening experience that allows for the purest possible sound in an intimate setting where you can be fully immersed in every delicious riff. You can even settle in for a full meal and craft cocktails (with no minimum charge ever), creating a cozy date night with smooth rhythms to set the stage for romance, mystery, and soulful allure. See, hear, and feel why this live music lounge has been consistently voted one of the top 100 jazz clubs in the United States.

3) Ameris Bank Amphitheatre

After ten years of rocking Alpharetta, this epic amphitheatre enters its concert season with it best and brightest lineup yet. Santana, Luke Combs, and Train with special guest The Goo Goo Dolls are just a few on the musical docket this year. There’s not a bad seat in the house at this 12,000-capacity harmonious haven with impeccably manicured greenery all around and state-of-the-art jumbo screens certain to ensure you never miss a single second of your favorite drum solo or lead singer’s signature dance moves.
