After graduating the prestigious Berklee College of Music in 1971, jazz saxophonist, flutist, and composer Greg Abate played lead alto saxophone in the Ray Charles Orchestra for two years in the early ‘70s. In 1978, he formed the group Channel One, and later played tenor sax in the revived Artie Shaw Orchestra, directed by Dick Johnson.
Following this experience Greg ventured out as post hard bop soloist playing Jazz Festivals, Jazz Societies and Jazz Clubs throughout the U.S. Canada and abroad, including most of Europe, UK, and Moscow and Georgia Russia, and has released more than 16 albums.
