Let’s face it – after a month of filling up with holiday sweets between gatherings with family and holiday parties, most of us dread getting on the scale in January. If this is you, you don’t have to give up delicious tasting foods to get back your waistline. And while “healthy” may mean different things to different people, here are several Alpharetta dining spots that have sensational tasting menu items but are low in fat and calories.
You may be surprised that this brewpub has rather healthy alternatives. The White Bean & Smoked Organic Salmon Hummus (complete with fresh seasonal vegetables) is a super healthy starter. There are several organic choices to be found here too. Think about the Portobello Sandwich or Black Bean Burger. A grass-fed organic steak in the 5-ounce portion is a tasty choice for those looking to eat healthy.
There are many health-conscious options here despite the gastropub label. Start with the salt and vinegar Brussels sprouts. Either the kale and romaine salad with salmon or the quinoa salad make for terrific, protein packed meals too.
With locations that started inside the perimeter, the popular restaurant has moved OTP with their chicken salads (made with all white meat), which are the most popular entrees. Choose from the traditional, curried or walnut. My personal favorite is the curry, but try all three and decide for yourself! And while they are very flavorful, they are not chock-full of mayonnaise. You can get them all in the form of a salad or sandwich.
This spot has a giant menu full of all kinds of American and Greek specialties. But that doesn’t mean they don’t have healthy options too. Get a soup and salad or soup and sandwich here. Choose from soups like Chicken Noodle or French Onion or a turkey or a turkey or tuna salad sandwich.
With a selection of soups and salads, mostly organic and vegetarian, this restaurant prides itself on making customers feel great after choosing from their “real food” menu. You are guaranteed to be filled with nutritious selections that won’t tempt you to stray from your resolution to eat healthy.
The staff is so cheery and helpful here. Besides that, their coffee is their own proprietary blend. A Yogurt Parfait, served with fresh fruit and poppy seed muffin, is top notch. So is the Pesto Chicken Power Bowl. First Watch serves their breakfast and brunch menu every day until they close around 2 p.m.
As you start to settle into 2017, keep in mind you don’t have to sacrifice taste when it comes to your dining options. There are plenty of tasty dining options all around Alpharetta to keep your taste buds happy while keeping your waistline in check!
