Now that Summer is gone and Autumn has arrived with her cool evenings and changing leaves, we can jump right into all the Fall activities like football tailgates, pumpkin picking, and fall music festivals. There are numerous concerts and festivals coming up so it’s time to prepare your wardrobe for warm afternoons that lead into chilly nights with these four fall festival fashion tips.
Light-weight dresses pair well with booties
Give one of my favorite combinations a try and pair a lightweight fall colored dress with a pair of booties for your festival outing. I don’t particularly like wearing open toed shoes in large gatherings in case of having your feet stepped on accidentally, so I prefer to wear boots or booties when I go to concerts. Plus, it’s a sneaky way to add heels and height comfortably to give you a leg up on seeing the stage! Honey and Hazel, a locally owned boutique near North Point Mall, and fab’rik, in Avalon, both have an awesome selection of booties to finalize your outfit. If you’re looking to add a little country to your chic style, stop in at Leather N Pearle in downtown Alpharetta for your new favorite pair of cowgirl boots.
Military Jackets are timeless and add a layer of warmth
I invested in a military jacket last year from Madewell (which has a location at Avalon) and it’s been one of the greatest jackets I’ve bought in over a decade. It’s incredibly versatile and can truly be worn in every season. The military green pairs well with everything: stripes, red bandana scarves, lace tanks, jeans, dresses. You name it and it’ll pair well with your outfit. I like that it isn’t too heavy to make you overheat in the afternoon, but it woven well enough that it’ll keep the cool air from getting to you at night. This would be an excellent shopping opportunity score an awesome find at one of Alpharetta’s upscale resale shops like Designer Consigner and Couture Consigner.
Mix textures and patterns
When it comes to my wardrobe I love mixing textures and patterns for a unique look One of my favorite combinations for fall is a black and white striped tee mixed with a red bandana patterned scarf. It’s both casual but eye catching and a good way to stand out from the crowd when attending a festival. You’ll find a variety of scarves at Versona, near North Point Mall. If you’re going for a more dressed up look, you can always pair a lace dress with suede booties for a soft-meets-edgy ensemble!
Cross-body bags are essential
One of my most cherished possessions is my Dooney & Bourke cross-body saddle bag (you can find Dooney & Bourke bags at Von Maur in North Point Mall) I bought while I was still a starving college student and it has accompanied me to over 15 festivals since and still looks as new as the day I purchased it four years ago. Not only does go with every outfit, but it is spacious enough to carry my phone, wallet, keys, small camera and other essentials. When you’re in a large crowd you want to avoid a large bag that may cause you to run into other festival goers, discrete is best at big festivals and concerts. Stores around Alpharetta to browse for carry cross-body bags include Sage, fa’brik, American Threads, Versona, Dress Up Boutique and Francesca’s.
