Fall in Alpharetta: Top spots to have a picnic/enjoy the outdoors in Alpharetta

November 9, 2017

Fall may just be the perfect time of year in the Atlanta metro area. The humidity has finally gone and we are blessed with sunshine filled days with a low chance of rain. So, make the most of your weekends or days off and come enjoy some of the best spots in Alpharetta.

Okay so maybe your idea of enjoying the great outdoors isn’t a strenuous hike. That’s okay. You can enjoy these beautiful outdoor spots year round. First, there are ample benches and seating that are in close proximity to the fire pits. It feels great on a cool fall evening. Another thing I like to enjoy at Avalon? Corn Hole! Right outside Colletta is where you can find it. Looking for some stunning views outdoors? Check out Brine Seafood Shack, Barleygarden Kitchen & Craft Bar or CRU’s rooftop patios. Of course, there is the main Plaza at Avalon – a lush, green space where fun events like concerts and yoga happen. And best of all? Most of these events are free!

Brooke Street Park

Even though this park is located near city hall and near lots of action, it is still quite peaceful. Here you’ll find the Alpharetta Veteran’s Memorial, water fountains for both people and their furry friends plus a peaceful stream. Along the pathway are benches so if you have elderly grandparents in the mix, there’s plenty of spots for them to rest if need be.

Wills Park

You and your family won’t be bored at Wills Park with the many options to keep you busy. Besides lovely walking paths, there’s tennis courts and an equestrian center, playgrounds and even special events facilities. Visit their events calendar to learn about upcoming events that may be of interest. There are plenty of spots to enjoy a picnic lunch. Then you can walk the trails, play some tennis or enjoy the playground.

Webb Bridge Park

Webb Bridge Park is fun for kids of all ages. There are three different play areas for different levels, plus a sandbox. Swings and slides are plentiful, and for older kids there’s a huge soccer field. Don’t be fooled by how small this park looks from the outside, there’s plenty of places to enjoy a secluded picnic.
